# 5Brains

> 5Brains (https://5brains.io), also called Smart Knowledge, is the shared memory layer for AI agents. The package and MCP tool names still use "smart-knowledge" / "smart_knowledge". Agents read decisions, documents, a knowledge graph and live databases before they act, through MCP, the Node.js and Python SDKs or a REST API, and write back decisions, tasks, facts and lessons afterwards. People curate the sources and review what agents learned in a web workspace, where they can also ask questions from the same memory. It is not a "chat with your documents" assistant: the primary users are agents.

## The five memories

1. Business decisions: decisions, policies and task records, encrypted at field level.
2. Meaning: semantic vectors of document text and past agent lessons.
3. Exact recall: keyword index for identifiers, codes and numbers.
4. Knowledge graph: entities, relationships, source and confidence.
5. Agent coordination: job queue and task state for long-running missions.

Language models and embeddings run on Google Gemini through its API.

## Capabilities

- Cited question answering across documents and plain text, with multi-turn conversations, coreference resolution and conversation branching.
- Read-only federated queries to PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB, with row limits and encrypted credentials.
- Calculations executed as code in an isolated sandbox (128 MB memory, 10 s limit, no network).
- Agent missions that plan, retrieve in parallel, self-check source coverage and retry, with streaming progress, polling and webhooks.
- Knowledge graph explorer with user feedback on facts and disputed-fact flagging.
- Cascade deletion: removing a document deletes its vectors, graph facts and derived agent lessons.
- Per-request token metering, monthly per-seat quotas and top-up packs.

## Limits

- Redaction of personal data is pattern based (emails, phone numbers, card and social security numbers).
- Answers can still be wrong. Check cited sources for important decisions.
